Dark Light

Sho nuff
The balloon brought out
the buffoons who hot-aired
this event as the apex of
Uncle Sam’s impotency

How idyllic the Fox News Blue
Room, a Brigadoon for those who
dividend by rerun rich reports
that the sky is always falling.

And think any who can’t see that,
the enemy. See, we need enemies.

OK the audio below is shockingly shallow, its whole purpose was to test a compressor plugin. Very little musicality, and even less structure.

  1. Yep, it’s a mess out there. And self-made. A dollar a holler sellout. And you’re so kind and generous in noting all my know-nothing tone poemin’…thanks so much

  2. The poem is thought-provoking, and had me strumming up my own thoughts on all the current goings-on in this world; what we lack, why we lack those things. *Shakes head*

And the tone poem is like some sort of electric funk & jazz fusion. I actually really like what you’ve done with it!

  3. Legitimate enquire…not a bit tangential…and yes, the ole US of A has always, unfortunately, needed an outside villain to replace our homegrown tribal and regional intransigency. Maybe Cruise copping an Oscar might buy us a minute or two…but a miracle on ice moment would chill some of the heat, maybe. You’re right.

  4. I get it: personal prerogative. Well, I heard lyricism in all that tech. Please keep ‘em coming. (Heart back atchya)

  5. Thanks….for catchin’ the Brigadoon doom saying…and as for a tone poem it was tech winning over musical tonality…it was all about NYC parallel processing sound via digital algorithm… and I think I’ve found “my” compressor….EQ is next….and you’re my heart.

  6. Ok. I’m going to totally tangent. So sorry in advance. I see a lot of films including everything up for Oscar’s…I think Top Gun has a real shot at winning best picture because I think we need a miracle on ice moment…something that unites an us against them moment. Your poem made me think about that, bizarre as that may sound…

  7. Love the poem and your take on the balloon spectacle. The use of “Brigadoon” for the Fox folk is spot on. ALSO your audio post was wonderful! So much going on in that one. Why didn’t you call it a “tone poem” like the others you created? Just wondering because I certainly heard poesy.
