And I Missed That Layup

There was a riot in Raleigh
When Thompson beat Walton
A NCAA basketball melee

And the student body took
To bruising that small bore
small town college strip

And I sipped beer in a clear
plastic cup as our future leaders
overjoyed, overturned a Volkswagon
You know-
The peoples ride;
And spun it as a top

which made the cops mimic
this youthful idiocy and courtesy
now arrested an unlawful assemble
I do declare, as a fine southern bell,
who had caught my fancy… bellowed,
you can’t take my Breaguard

I’m spry yet retired. I reside in the inner city of a major metropolitan area of the United States. I read politics. I watch baseball. I hum along with the tune. I June swoon, and moon the bad poem. Post here, are old and new. Opinions are my very own, except when wrong.
